Echosystem - Madaga CD

Mit viel Feuer widerlegt dieses Septett aus Helsinki sicher die letzten Klischees der dauerdepressiven Finnen, die, eingeschneit von Weltschmerz und Selbstmitleid, bevorzugt nach traurigen Tangos in der Sauna Selbstmord begehen. Von wegen: Echosystem erhellen den Winter mit sonnigen brasilianischen Rhythmen und einer scharfen Prise Funk und Jazz; auch ein paar hektische Breakbeats fehlen nicht.

Bemerkenswert zudem, dass Echosystem auf »MADAGA« völlig auf brasilianische Klassiker verzichten: die Keyboarderin Elina Lae und die Sängerin Vilja Larjosto schreiben alle Stücke für Echosystem, Valtteri Nevalainen (fl) und Linda Fredriksson (sax) spielen frische Soli, dazu grooven Jarno Lappalainen (b), Aukka Auvinen (perc) und Drummer Kimmo Salminen um die Wette. Lindström, BB - Lil' Red Robin Hood CD

Die CD hört nie auf, randvoll mit zwar eigenen, sehr eigenen Songs, die aber fast alle immer so klingen »wie XY«. Das ist toll gemacht, sehr sorgfältig, mit sehr viel Liebe zum skurrilen Detail und einem Ohr für die klingende Melodie. Aber meist eben doch »wie«. Oder, anders ausgedrückt: Aus jedem Song-Stil eine eigene CD zu machen – das wäre vielleicht eine gute Idee. Dann käme man BB Lindström näher. So versteckt er sich. Wo ist er denn?

Enver Izmaylov - The Guitar Legend of Crimera DVD

Enver Izmaylov is a prominent Ukrainian folk and jazz musician (guitarist). Born into a tatar family previously deported from Crimea (Ukraine), Izmaylov returned in 1989.

Izmaylov does not pluck the strings, but uses jazz tapping - an original technique of electric guitar
playing when a musician plays with both hands on the neck by tapping on the strings with his fingertips, as if it was a keyboard. Enver Izmaylov graduated from the Fergana music school in 1973 majoring on bassoon and started playing the guitar at age 15
